NC Phenom 150 had a few sleepers that made a name for themselves.

6’1 ’19 Jackson Gabriel (Lincoln Charter)

Don’t sleep on this young man! Jackson is an excellent “catch and shoot” player. He is a true shooting guard with good size. Jackson is fundamentally sound and highly skilled. He has tremendous range on his jump shot and knocked down shots beyond the 3-pont line. In addition, he is a tough hardnosed competitor that brings effort and energy to each game.

6’1 ’17 Greg Gary (Southview HS)

Greg Gary can play positions. He scored from all three levels. He was effective off dribble penetration; pull ups and had range out to the 3-point line. We were impressed with his step back jumper that allowed him to create enough space to get off his shot over taller defenders. In addition, he was one of the best defenders in camp. Bottom line, Greg is made for the dribble drive offense and should excel with his capabilities with the right tutelage.

6’6 Isayah Johnson (West Charlotte)

Isayah Johnson was possibly the biggest surprise in camp. He is a dynamic athlete and at 6’6 has the ability to navigate traffic and get his shot off. His game is smooth and easy. He snatches everything that comes off the rim. Isayah was so active defensively and was blocking shots in and out of his area. He has excellent length and wingspan that allows him to guard multiple positions. We were impressed with his ability to grab a defensive rebound and go coast to coast in transition.

6’0 ’20 Axel Holm (Lincoln Charter)

Axel has good length for such a young point guard. He has extremely nice balance between scoring and facilitating. We were impressed with his overall effort for the day. He can turn on the jets when turning the corner and isn’t afraid of contact. He’s going to be one to watch over the course of his high school career.

5’9 ’19 BJ Davis (Brookville HS, VA)

We thoroughly enjoyed the pace that BJ Davis brings to the game. He’s not a traditional point guard, but he is a natural at his position. BJ is very skilled offensive and has a good enough jump shot to keep defenses honest. We were impressed with his advanced knowledge of the game for his age/grade.

5’9 ’18 Matthew Climbingbear (Piedmont HS)

Matthew is just a hardnosed blue-collar worker that plays every game like it’s his last. We were simply impressed with his energy and especially the way he went after loose balls. Matthew brings an old school approach and plays with a passion and purpose that is not often seen in camp settings.
