Southern Durham 76 Louisburg 51

NCHSAA 3A Southern Durham simply just had too much depth and balance as they rolled to an impressive opening win at the inaugural City of Oaks Classic. Southern Durham had 10 players to score and was led by 6’4 unsigned senior Jayvis Harvey with 17 points, while 6’5 sophomore Aaron Hall tossed in 12 points. 6’3 sophomore Elijah Jamison (Louisburg) was the game’s high scorer with 28 points.

 

Ravenscroft 78 Athens Drive 71

In an intriguing local matchup between private vs. public school, Ravenscroft came away with a very solid 78-71 win over Athens Drive. 6’2 junior LucRichard Rameau led the way with a team high 30 points. Rameau was simply a workhorse throughout the game and went an efficient 12-13 from the free-throw line. 6’8 Bucknell signee Jake Van Der Heijden had 19 including five 3-pointers while teammate 6’7 junior Brady O’Connell finished with a double double (13 points and 11 rebounds.) Leading the way for Athens Drive was the backcourt duo of 6’1 Northern Kentucky signee DJ Robertson with a game high 32 points, including going a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line. 6’2 junior guard Lawrence Frost added 16 while 6’5 junior Jonah Milchuck chipped in 12 points.

 

Durham Academy 82 Granville Central 59

Playing without star player MJ Rice, Durham Academy showcased a well balanced game as 10 players got into the scoring column. Leading the way was 6’0 sophomore point guard Cole Sinclair with a game high 19 points, including five 3-pointers. 6’4 sophomore Toby Harris chipped in 17 points, including four 3-pointers, while 6’4 unsigned senior tallied 11 points. Leading the way for Granville Central was the sophomore duo of 6’1 Jamari Mann and 6’2 Terrence Harcum. Mann and Harcum finished with 19 and 17 points respectively.

 

Word of God 73 Heritage 65

In a solid and well played game, Word of God used its depth and balance to an impressive 73-65 win over Heritage. Four players for Word of God got into double figures. 6’6 junior Josh Reid had a huge second half burst with 15 points, 6’3 senior Tim Pettiford and 6’6 senior Max Farthing both chipped in 12 points while 6’3 junior Chase Forte added 10. For Heritage, 6’6 sophomore Redford Dunton had a game high 21 points (17 in the second half). 6’5 sophomore Lucas Taylor also had a terrific showing with 17 points. 5’10 junior Dyson Pender and 5’10 sophomore Jalen Rochelle had 13 and 12 points respectively.

 

Raleigh Trinity 61 Holly Springs 60

it was the “Battle of the Titans” with the marquee matchup between 6’11 Virginia signee Kadin Shedrick (Holly Springs) and 6’10 junior Isaiah Todd (Raleigh Trinity) and the two big time players gave the fans a big time performance. In a wild and crazy finish with Isaiah Todd hitting a “walk off” free throw in a somewhat chaotic ending. Isaiah Todd finished with a game high 20 points with 18 coming in the second half. 5’11 sophomore guard Tyler Gill chipped in 16 points including two 3-pointers while 6’4 junior Jake Bertolini-Felice also got into the double digit scoring with 12 points. Holly Springs was led by 6’11 Kadin Shedrick with 21 points and a conservative 11 rebounds. 6’0 senior Garrett Philips and 6’2 senior Matt Willadsen each scored by 12 points.
