Grassroots basketball is a very niche, complex industry. The value of having trusted, reliable individuals can pay massive dividends for middle and high school prospects. Finding intelligent, qualified, respected people can be a challenging task. That being said, Phenom Hoops is excited to announce the hiring of Chris Ewell as our newest Director of Events. Between his knowledge as a coach, scout, and general basketball mind (who knows the landscape as well and realistically as anyone), Ewell will be an immediate asset.
Folks should already be well-informed of Ewell but for those who aren’t: he’s the current head coach of Carolina International (after multiple notable endeavors as an assistant for high-profile teams) who hosts yearly events and runs the Underrated Athletes brand. He’s a highly authentic, genuine guy who brings a calming presence to seemingly every situation. Given his age and trajectory, Ewell has certainly positioned himself as one of the clear up-and-comers in the business—and Phenom Hoops is very fortunate to have him on staff.
Our President, Rick Lewis, praised Ewell, stating, “We’re excited to welcome Chris Ewell as our Director of Events. Chris is bright, articulate, and has an excellent understanding of the basketball landscape. We collaborated with Chris at past events and highly value his contributions to the Phenom Platform. Chris has run scholastic events and camps and is a highly respected coach, and his strengths will blend nicely with our overall philosophy.”
As Lewis stated, Ewell will be able to contribute in various ways. Whether calling teams, organizing events, hosting camps, scouting games, or anything in between, Ewell has already proven himself more than capable. We spoke to our newest team member regarding his role and expectations going forward, Ewell notes, “I am excited to join Phenom Hoops and contribute to the incredible platform they have built to support athletes around the country. Phenom has made a significant impact in North Carolina over the years, and it’s a full-circle moment to now be part of their mission to help the next generation of talent.”
