Sometimes, you just simply know… As a scout, there are times when you come across a young prospect and you simply know that this is going to be a player colleges of all levels will be after in a big way. 2024 6’6 Rakease Passmore is one of those players for Phenom Hoops.
Passmore quickly checks a lot of the boxes with his game, which is why schools like Murray State and Western Carolina didn’t waste any time in offering him. Watching him on multiple occasions and the latest at the Phenom Summer Showcase, Passmore is an elite-level talent.
With his game, Passmore already brings great size at 6’6 and a long frame that makes him a matchup nightmare. Offensively, he brings tremendous athleticism and bounce, a few factors that you quickly notice about his game. He finishes well in transition, explosive at the rim, and attacks the rim strong. But he also shows that he has the ability to simply take over a game; give him the ball and let him operate. Whether it is in the halfcourt, knocking down shots from the perimeter (which he has really shown and impressed with his range), creating for himself, exploding to the rim, and getting whatever he desires, or if it is in transition, rebounding the ball, pushing the break and scoring through defenders, Passmore can do it all on the court.
Passmore is an absolute monster on the floor and shows it time after time after time. And it isn’t a fluke as he did it all throughout the high school season at AC Reynolds last year, averaging 15.1 points, 7.1 rebounds. 1.3 steals, 1.5 blocks, and shot 47 percent from the floor (37 percent from three).
The rising sophomore checks off so many boxes that will make him a high-major talent in the state of North Carolina and that is why we see him being a rising star in the making. It won’t be long until you hear Rakease Passmore as a national name and a player that will have the attention of all college programs around the country.
