There was plenty of debate coming into the night about what the Charlotte Hornets would be looking to do with the No. 2 pick. As the day went on, it seemed more and more likely that Alabama’s Brandon Miller would be the pick and that is how it turned out, as the 6’9 prospect is headed to the Hornets.

“Brandon Miller played his lone college season at Alabama, where he led the Crimson Tide to the No. 1 overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. In 37 appearances for Alabama, Miller put up 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 38.4 percent from three on 7.5 attempts per game. Miller registered 14 games with at least 20 points and four games with at least 30, headlined by a season-high 41 points in a win over South Carolina on Feb. 22. At the end of the season, Miller was named the SEC Player of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Year, SEC Tournament MVP and a consensus All-American. As a high school senior, Miller was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Tennessee. He went on to play in both the Jordan Classic and the McDonald’s All-American Game.”
How can he help the Hornets
There is no doubt about it that the Hornets could use a player like Miller as a small forward. At his length at 6’9, Miller is an excellent prospect that can stretch the court with his outside shooting especially from behind the arc. But he also does a great job in using his size to create off the dribble, make plays and rise up over defenders from all levels, and can also help on the boards as well as facilitate. The Hornets have the guards to help lead the charge, but they were needing someone to take that three spot and Miller should fit right in there.
