The Carmel Christian MLK Showcase is going to be an absolute show, as private schools and public schools square up on the hardwood Saturday afternoon and Phenom Hoops will be helping lead the charge. Another fantastic and must-see event from Phenom, come out and enjoy a day of basketball.

Now, we look to break down each game and what to watch!
4:30PM – Cardinal Newman (SC) vs. Gaston Christian
We get a little South Carolina flavor to the action at Carmel Christian, as Cardinal Newman heads up to North Carolina to take on Gaston Christian. If you don’t know much about the Cardinals of Cardinal Newman, it is a team that has depth and a balance of experience. Not to be overlooked by their record, they have a balanced attack led by 2023 Jordan Frazer, 2024 Evan Carter, and others, as anyone can step up for this team on a given night.
Gaston Christian, who made some BIG noise in their last Phenom Hoops event when they took down Word of God, certainly should have the attention of teams and fans this time around, as things look to be coming more together after a rough start. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t talent on the floor, as 2024 Jahseem Felton, one of the top players in the state, will be on display and looking for another strong showing. 2023 Isaiah Tate, who is leading the team in scoring at 17.2ppg, has quickly been rising up the rankings with his play this season, as he has improved in several areas and is one of the clear leaders of this team as well. But you also get to see a balanced team with tremendous guards in action that know how to make plays on the court.
A nice matchup to watch for, as we continue tomorrow with the final two games to watch in this loaded field, all of which will be on display on January 15 at Carmel Christian.
