Phenom Hoops wants to share the successes of all players and teams around the state of North Carolina because there is just a ton of talent all throughout. We continue to shed light on players but fans need to take notice of teams that are also finding success this season.
Back in the 1A Division in Conference 32, Winston-Salem Prep is certainly a program many already know about in the past but they are putting another successful season this year. Sitting at 7-2, they have now put together a nice win streak after starting the season 1-2. And when you look at stats, they are certainly getting it done on the offensive end, averaging 75 points per game.
The Phoenix have four players averaging double-digits and when you dive into the roster and stats, there are players that should be opening a ton of eyes. Let’s start with the double-double machines on the team, including an impressive freshman in Yohance Connor, a 6’1 prospect, has been putting up outstanding numbers early on in high school, averaging 19.4ppg, 11.6rpg, and 3.9spg to lead the team. He is only continuing to show what he showed this summer with Team FLY, where he was just as impressive. 2023 Areon Matthews is the other double-double machine for WS Prep, averaging 13.2ppg, 13.1rpg, 3.2spg, and 2.2bpg, as the 6’4 prospect has been a real anchor for the Phoenix.
2023 Jamison Graves is the second-leading scorer on the team early on, averaging 16.8ppg on the season while 2022 Micheal Jordan is chipping in 13.2ppg. Right outside that, 2022 Jay Penn is posting numbers of 9.6ppg, 3.4rpg, and 2.9spg.
As you can see, these five players are producing at a high level and really are making a strong impact all over the floor, whether it is offensively or defensively.
This is a program that is used to winning and it seems that Coach Pittman has a solid group with an array of experience, that could be making some more noise this season as well.
