The third game for day two of Phenom's Holiday Classic took place between a pair of very intriguing teams in Carmel Christian and Anderson Christian. The Cougars enter this game as one of the top private school teams within North Carolina while Anderson Christian has begun to solidify themselves as a program worth noting. Carmel Christian opened up this contest in complete control, utilizing their incredibly talented starting unit to gain separation and jump out to an early lead. Although the Cougars possess an abundance of talent, Anderson Christian only trailed 41-36 entering halftime. Guys like Xavier Thornton and Bray Greer were major contributors for the Lions. Ben Burnham and Glenn Bynum were instrumental after the break, allowing Carmel Christian to finish the third period with a 63-49 advantage. The final quarter was more of the same for both squads, as Carmel maintained a double-digit lead and ultimately secured an 87-66 victory over Anderson Christian.

Carmel Christian:

6'7 '22 Cade Tyson

In all honesty, there might not be a bigger current recruiting travesty in North Carolina than Tyson. Holding a lone Charlotte offer, he already has the makings of a high-major player and should only further solidify that notion over the next calendar year. At 6-foot-7 with legitimate perimeter fluidity, Tyson is a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc, midrange, or within two to three dribbles. Additionally, he's continued to grow, add strength, and become more confident on both sides of the ball. Tyson is a reliable defender, steady offensive force (with more than just spot-up ability), and incredible role player with an elite skill. Expect his offer sheet to grow considerably over the foreseeable future, as all types of Division I programs should be laying groundwork.

6'3 '22 Justin Taylor

Easily one of the clear leaders of this team, Taylor can be found dictating the action from the opening buzzer. He's electric with the ball in his hands, able to utilize his quickness or change-of-pace to get downhill and make plays for himself and others. Taylor is a capable finisher and possesses a lethal midrange pull-up but also knocked down three-pointers at an efficient percentage throughout this showing. He's a willing passer and capable defender with a nice blend of size, skill, and athleticism. Taylor already has a handful of offers but will likely continue accumulating scholarships through the next few seasons.

Anderson Christian:

6'3 '21 Xavier Thornton

The tough, rugged Anderson Christian squad was led by Thornton in virtually every facet of the game. He ran the offensive as a primary creator and showcased impressive balance between scoring and playmaking. Thornton is a phenomenal communicator, capable of defending multiple positions, and makes great decisions when attacking the basket. He's a timely passer and stood out as one of the better rebounders for this group. Thornton definitely has the makings of a useful college player.

6'5 '21 Bray Greer

Though slightly undersized for his position, Greer did an excellent job of operating as the main interior presence for this team. He showed toughness around the basket, both as a defender and rebounder, and operated within the team at all times. Greer plays bigger than his size and displays bounciness around the basket. He was able to make hustle plays and do the little things from start to finish.
