Carmel Christian Tip Off Classic

Saturday Early Standouts

6'8 '20 Tay Williams (Liberty Heights)

In the win over a very talented Piedmont Classical team, Williams had a complete all-around game. With his length and athleticism, he creates problems especially on the defensive end of the court. He has good anticipation and has the ability to block or alter shots in the paint. For the game, Williams finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and collected four steals.

6'6 '20 Kahari Rogers (Liberty Heights)

We're talking about a lengthy, athletic and bouncy wing that has terrific touch and range beyond the 3-point line. In the game against Piedmont Classical, Rogers had a game high 20 points, going 7-13 from the floor, and 3-8 from the 3-point line. In addition, Rogers collected four rebounds, dished out two assists, had one block and one steal. To put it mildly, he did a little bit of everything.

6'0 '21 Jamarii Thomas (Piedmont Classical)

Thomas is just an old fashion 'junk yard dawg' on the court. He is one of the most competitive players in the state regardless of class. He simply brings effort, energy and enthusiasm to each and every game. In the lost to Liberty Heights, Thomas tallied 15 points, collected four rebounds, dished out three assists and had three steals.

6'5 '21 Tyler Fearne (Concord First Assembly)

In the game against Northwood Temple, Concord First Assembly needed a big-time lift. They were struggling to maintain their lead and Fearne added a tremendous spark off the bench. He finished with a game high 23 points going 8-13 from the floor, and 7-12 from the 3-point line. His effort and outstanding performance earned him the game MVP honors.

6'6 '20 Reggie Raynor (Northwood Temple)

Reggie Raynor has been a model of consistency throughout the preseason via camps and high school jamborees and his performance against Concord First Assembly was no exception. Raynor finished with 22 points, going 8-15 from the floor, and 6-8 from the free throw line. In addition, Raynor collected 10 rebounds to finish with a 'double double.'

6'3 '20 Carson McCorkle (Greensboro Day)

What a day it was for the University of Virginia commit. When we say McCorkle did it on both ends of the court, trust me, he was simply superb. McCorkle finished with a game high 31 points going 13-18 from the floor, including 5-10 from the 3-point line. In addition, he had six steals and was stellar on defense the entire day.

Greensboro Day Team

Greensboro Day looked like they were in mid-season form and it was an impressive performance from start to finish. NC State commit Cam Hayes scored 23 points, but was in complete control at the lead guard position. Hayes had seven assists to only one turnover and was able to dictate what he wanted, when he wanted. More importantly for Coach Freddy Johnson, the team was absolutely tremendous in the half court. They executed flawlessly at times and finished with a team 19 assists to only nine turnovers for the game, not to mention they forced 29 turnovers and an unbelievable 20 steals for the game. With the chemistry displayed today, Greensboro Day is destined for a four peat at the NCISAA state championship.'
