Greensboro Day and Head Coach Freddy Johnson have broken record books and solidified themselves by many with their play and championships over a long time. However, both would like to add a bit more hardware to that list this year, as the Bengals have shown that they are here to compete for another state title.
Sitting at 25-5 on the season, this is a team that has been racking up the wins once again and they would love nothing more to finish the season on top again. Though there have been some tough battles and hurdles at times, including hard-fought losses to Concord Academy early in the season and to FCDS, Greensboro Day has plenty of talent to make one last push at the end of the season.
This has been an interesting roster overall with them having plenty of veterans to help lead the way. But the new faces have also been extremely big in the team’s success as well. 2025 Addison Newkirk, 2025 Jaden Palmore, 2025 Trace Moffitt, and others have been true leaders on and off the court. You have also seen the growth of players like 2027 Mason Robinson, 2026 Julian Adigun, 2026 Marty Giant, and others as well. And on top of that, new faces like 2025 Ace Flagg and 2028 Micah Gunter have been tremendous additions to this team, giving the Bengals plenty of options on the court.
Greensboro Day has the talent, the depth, and the impact on both sides of the court to get the job done but it certainly won’t be easy by any means. It will be interesting to see if this team can put it all together one last time at the end of the season, keep the offense rolling, continue to bring the intensity defensively, and find ways to earn wins to finish off the season in hopes of yet another state title for the program.
