Player: Mekhi Allen
Class: 2028
Height: 6’3
School: Queens Grant
It is never too early to look and learn about players who will be playing at the high school level this upcoming season, and one freshman that everyone will need to have on their watch list will be Queens Grant freshman Mekhi Allen.
We have spotlighted Allen on several occasions, seeing the true talent in a rising young prospect along with his potential. That was only confirmed the last two weekends with Allen, as he put on an impressive show time after time at the Phenom HS Team Camp.
When you talk about his game early on, there are a lot of early factors that you have to like especially if he continues to develop and add more. He has good positional size at 6’3 as an incoming freshman, understands how to be active and engaged around the basket and in the paint, but is also skilled and fluid enough to make plays in a variety of other ways as well as stretch the court from outside. He was confident on several occasions when scoring and stretching the floor, knocking down shots from outside confidently. But he has only continued to improve his ability to create for himself, has fluid shooting mechanics, and shows that he can flourish in a variety of roles. There is a lot of versatility with his game and with a new team at Queens Grant, it seems that Allen will have plenty of opportunities to help lead the team at an early age.
He was able to earn offers from Drexel and Virginia Tech at the Phenom Team Camp, but it is looking early on that that could only just be the start as he has a chance to be one of the premier talents in the Class of 2028.
