In life, some things are just meant to be. The same applies to basketball. A given player can try to be different than their natural identity, but it usually just isn't meant to happen. That exact ideal came to mind when seeing the numbers that Brock Williams is posting this year for Burlington Christian Academy. He is a scorer through and through, and returning to his original situation allows him to dominate the ball while carrying the offensive burden on a nightly basis. Though the High Point signee is gearing up for the collegiate ranks, Williams is still approaching each contest with effort and intensity. So, how did we get here'

Well, most folks probably remember Williams prior to his high school days'when he was easily one of the most decorated young guards in the Carolinas. At the beginning of his freshman year, he showed insane offensive polish and ability despite being the youngest player on the roster. Williams went on to average 29.9 PPG as a freshman, only behind Jalen Cone, Ahmad Jeffries, and Coby White. Additionally, he was the only freshman inside North Carolina's top 25 scorers.

The following season, Ryan Bernardi took BCA's head coaching position, offered a fresh, new style, and brought in more talent to play alongside Williams. In terms of production, his sophomore year was simply ridiculous. He posted nightly averages of 34.8 PPG, 6.0 APG, and 4.5 SPG while shooting 62% from the floor. Although Williams finished second in North Carolina scoring (only behind Themus Fulks by 0.4 PPG), his assist numbers basically quadrupled while his turnovers remained under one per game. In terms of success and winning basketball, this season represented a major step forward for BCA and their star in Williams.

Soon thereafter, Bernardi got hired at The Burlington School and Williams transferred over to Greensboro Day School. The situation was certainly different, as Williams likely wouldn't be able to access as many shot attempts on a given night. However, this presented him with an opportunity to highlight his strengths as an on-ball defender while still impacting various other facets of the game. Their team made a deep playoff run but ultimately fell to the eventual winners in Cannon.

Fast-forward a few months, Williams has signed to HPU, returned back to BCA, and has kept the operation afloat as if he never left. Through five games, he's averaging 28.6 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 3.8 APG, and 4.8 SPG while shooting 68% from the floor. Williams simply has what it takes to put the ball in the basket. He's also one of the most impressive players in the state at drawing fouls and converting consistently at the line, especially given the volume. Williams stands as the current top scorer in the state, so it'll be exciting to track his numbers throughout the remainder of this season and going forward'especially in the college game.
