Getting it done on the court and in the classroom is incredibly important for any player in any sport, which is why Phenom Hoops continues to showcase players that are doing both at a high level.

2022 6’4 Kheni Briggs from AL Brown has been a known name around the state, especially with what he brings to the court.  Getting his chance to shine this year for his school, Briggs showed that he can dominate the floor with his build, strength, and skillset.  Averaging 18.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, Briggs has been able to show flashes of being a two-way player, especially with his blend of strength, IQ, athleticism, and ability to create for himself.

But he isn’t letting that success slow him down, as he is continuing to work hard this offseason.

“I’ve been really working on my jump shot, off the dribble, and stationary,” he told Phenom Hoops.  “I also have been doing workouts to better my athletic ability and core.  I really just want to improve my game overall.”

Briggs already holds offers Elon and Old Dominion, but has also been hearing strong interest from schools like UNCG, Winthrop, and Wake Forest along with other schools that have expressed interest.  It may just be the start for Briggs though for him and his recruitment.

The sophomore guard also gets it done in the classroom, with a GPA of 3.6.  Briggs knows that he has to have the same focus in the classroom that he does on the court.

“I just want to stay focused on the task in front of me and take it day by day,” he said.  “I am working on better study habits and how to stay focused.  The same with basketball, staying focused on getting better day-by-day.  My mentality is to be the best in both.  I feel like I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to and if I work hard enough, anything is possible.”

It looks to be only the start for Briggs but the rising junior has the right mindset and is completely focused on getting better in all areas of his game and in the classroom. This is why he will certainly be a big-time prospect to watch in the state of North Carolina.
