The summer has come and gone, and players have been able to leave their mark with college coaches. And with the high school season coming up, several prospects could be those hidden gems for schools looking to in the upcoming recruiting class. Bigs can be hard to find for several schools but we have a few in the Class of 2025 that could be sneaky prospects to watch more this upcoming season.
2025 6’10 Alek Kornacki (Concord Academy)
Kornacki has been one we have watched over the years and programs that are looking to check off the boxes of size, developing skill set, and impacting the game on both ends should be looking more his way this year. Since coming to North Carolina, Kornacki has continued to put in the work and develop more of his game and feel, showing better touch around the basket, production offensively and being assertive, stronger on the boards, and helping alter shots defensively. He is one that I would look at more this upcoming season.
2025 6’9 Zach Peterson (Asheville Christian)
Peterson is a unique prospect with his size and length to go along with his fluidity and ability to make plays in a variety of areas. Peterson does a nice job in running the floor and effectively using his size around the basket but can be an interesting matchup with his comfort level in stepping out and knocking down shots. Peterson had a good summer and should continue to carry that over this upcoming season.
2025 6’7 Rylan Parkins (McDowell)
Talk about a stock riser this summer, as Parkins clearly made himself noticeable in front of college coaches and scouts. Time after time, the 6’7 forward was able to make his impact felt on the court, simply outworking opponents on the boards, being a physical force with great timing, and displaying strong touch around the basket and with second-chance opportunities. Parkins is effective and understands how to make things out of nothing and find ways to be productive. He could be a nice gem for a program and should be a target for many this upcoming season.
2025 6’9 Cal Barrett (Moravian Prep)
Now part of the Class of 2025, Barrett will be interesting to follow and could be a sneaky get for a future program. Now at Moravian Prep, Barrett brings length and size but also the ability to operate from multiple levels on the court, knocking down shots inside and out and really mixing it up well. He has been a consistent presence on the court over the years we have watched him and I’m intrigued in what he can do at Moravian Prep this year.
