Phenom Hoops’ City of Oaks Classic is set to be in Raleigh, North Carolina this upcoming weekend and will feature an unbelievable amount of talent within this five-game field. The hosting Trinity Academy squad should have their hands full with Holly Springs, a program that has emerged as one of the top public schools in the state. There’s going to be numerous high-level matchups at every position, but none more intriguing than five-star Isaiah Todd going against Virginia signee Kadin Shedrick.
It’ll be interesting to see how this head-to-head exhibition goes, as Shedrick continues to make his case as a five-star prospect against one of the most naturally gifted opponents in the country. He’ll be tasked with performing at an extremely high level defensively, which is what he’s known for, but will also be forced to defend beyond the perimeter a lot in this contest. We’ll get to see Shedrick highlight many of his special qualities, including his two-way versatility, which has continued to improve within the last calendar year.
However, Todd is about as capable and well-rounded as a basketball player can be, given his unlimited ability on the hardwood. At 6-foot-10, he’s truly a walking mismatch that can dominate or overwhelm any type of opponent. Todd possesses a rare blend of inside-out skills, which allows him to do anything he desires on offense or in transition and still yield positive results. Like Shedrick, Todd is able to protect the rim or step out and defend virtually every position on the court, especially at the high school level.
Additionally, guys like Kaleb Scott and Marcus Elliott will need to have big-time performances in order for Holly Springs to come out victorious. Scott is slated to be one of the highest risers on our rankings and Elliott looks to have all the makings of a scholarship-worthy Division I point guard. This team is quite talented, but they are successful because everyone understands and embraces their specific role within the team. Anything can happen, so we’ll be watching closely to see if Holly Springs is able to contain Trinity Academy-duo Isaiah Todd and Jake Bertolini-Felice.
