Basketball coach Joe Badgett and winning have become commonplace in the past ten years. He has an impressive resume both as a head coach and as an assistant coach during his tenue at Northside Christian and now at Carmel Christian. Until this past season, a team coached by Joe Badgett has played for a NCISAA state championship. While coach Badgett has been coaching for the past 20 years, he has proven to be a true professional in every aspect of the game. He's always brought a calm, cool, and collect approach to the game. As a matter of fact, he has only received one technical foul in the last 20 years.

For coach Joe Badgett, he has always been one to demand excellence from his players in their work ethic, dedication and overall “team first” approach. In addition, he understands the importance of academics and like most successful coaches, he simply appreciates the idea that players who work hard in the classroom will work equally hard on the basketball court. More importantly, players who achieve academic success are usually players that listen, want to learn and want to be coached. This year's team is filled with true student athletes. Leading the way is rising senior Bryson Pisacano who sports an amazing 4.71 GPA. Not far behind is Justin Taylor with a 4.43 GPA, while Glenn Bynum carries a 4.14. Rising juniors Julian Arias and Kyle Bean both carry a 3.85 and 3.6 GPA respectively. While Coach Badgett has help build a high school power in Carmel Christian, he has team of student athletes who see the big picture. His teams are always well coached, disciplined, and execute a team oriented culture that is revolved around books and basketball.
