Despite some ups and downs this season, it’s easy to appreciate the adversity NC GBB has faced. Between injuries and general absences, they’ve managed to stay the course and currently sit at 5-4 with several challenging opponents throughout their early schedule. Coach Zimmerman consistently gets this group to compete and has a variety of next-level pieces within his roster. Let’s take a closer look at their prospects…

Although everyone is truly involved for this squad, the trio of Devin Sims, KJ Burke, and Malcolm McNeil burden a lot of the nightly production. Sims is a strong, physical, freak-athlete who excels in the open floor and poses a constant threat to play above the rim. He’s shown the ability to attack off the bounce, hit the occasional jumper, and consistently outwork opponents as a defender and rebounder. Meanwhile, Burke offers a reliable scoring presence with the ability to apply constant pressure from all levels. He’s a capable creator, both for himself and others, solid rebounder, and useful defender with nice anticipation. Lastly, McNeil is a tough, versatile wing who naturally impacts the game through his strength, motor, and unselfishness. He’s capable of defending multiple positions and rebounding much bigger than his listed height would imply.

In addition to those three, Cam Barnes and Darius Robinson are each reliable glue-guys who can do a little bit of everything on the court. Kato Muhammad is a capable initiator who can set up others, knock down open shots, and defend with energy. AJ Long offers a strong, physical, unselfish presence on both ends of the floor. Additionally, they’ve added juniors Parker Jefferies and Eli McGhee to provide this group with some increased depth. College coaches would be wise to take a look at this roster, as they have various pieces who can play at the next level.
