Now that we’ve reached the month of July, basically every game represents the opportunity for players to be seen, evaluated, and offered by college coaches. While this notion is more applicable to seniors, several juniors and multiple sophomores will inevitably put themselves on the radars of next-level programs. Over the few months, we will take a closer look at various players who should warrant attention as scholarship-level prospects. The intent of this article series is simply to provide breakdowns of guys who coaches should know about. We will continue by looking at Ramael Warren of Cummings High School.

After suffering a major injury last summer, Warren has been sidelined for nearly a full calendar year. He made his return at our Hardwood Classic and immediately picked up where he left off. Sure, Warren is still finding his groove in some areas but his impact was clear. He’s a smart, tough floor general with an enticing combination of athleticism, playmaking, and scoring instincts. Warren handles the ball with poise and consistently creates opportunities for others. He’s able to generate looks for himself and can apply scoring pressure in a variety of ways as needed. Warren does a quality job of breaking down opponents, touching the paint, and making the proper reads with the ball in his hands. In addition to his playmaking, he displayed the ability to hit jumpers and finish around the basket. Warren highlighted a strong burst and showed the ability to play above the rim. Add in his defense, rebounding, and generally steady presence, and Warren is a prospect college coaches should be monitoring throughout the month.

In looking back at his most recent high school season (2022-2023), Warren had impressive output. Clearly one of the more productive all-around guys on Cummings’ roster, he averaged 9.0 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 4.5 APG, and 1.8 SPG while shooting 52% from the floor. It’s clear that he has the makings of a difference-maker at the next level, and coaches can watch him this Thursday and Friday with Midstate Magic at our Phenom Hoops Live.
