Tony Carpio

It was great to see so many teams come and compete at the Phenom G3 Showcase, including a familiar face in the Atlanta Allstars from Georgia. Coach Benjamin Miller and the Allstars were back on the court with Phenom to give us another glimpse of the talent they had this year, as they have given us several other memorable players in the past as well.

This year's team has a few intriguing and new names that grabbed our attention and could be ones for college coaches at the next level, so let's dive into them a little more.

2022 6'8 Tony Carpio is one of the first players that grab your eyes, as he is a fundamentally sound forward that plays strong, moves well on the court, and has nice bounce to his game.' You add that to his feel down in the paint and how he can embrace/finish through contact, there is a reason why a few schools have already offered him including Navy.

Then you can look at a few guards with size, including 2022 6'4 Christian Drummer and 2022 6'4 Eammon Kenah.  Drummer is a long guard that not only looks to push the ball up in transition well and get other teammates involved but also is a tremendous defensive presence, allowing his defense to turn into offense.  Kenah brings some surprising bounce about toughness to the court, with the ability to finish strong in transition and at the rim but also step out and knock down shots. 2022 6'0 Kolbe Ashe is a familiar face for Phenom Hoops, playing at Hayesville HS.  We have had this to say about Ashe at our Phenom camps:

'He's a young, intelligent point guard prospect with phenomenal offensive instincts, both as a scorer and playmaker. Ashe is a three-level scorer with a tight handle and excellent vision, which overwhelmed each assignment throughout the day. He is capable of operating without the ball and applying useful pressure as a knockdown spot-up threat, but he's just more valuable with the ball in his hands.'

JJ Hayes

Another Phenom camp alum, 2022 6'5 Miles McClure brings a balanced attack to the court, as we said this recently from our Phenom camp:

'He's a smart, sturdy, well-rounded wing/forward prospect with a high motor, unselfish mentality, and excellent nose for the ball. McClure is a phenomenal two-way rebounder with the necessary skill to push the break in transition and finish or set up others. He shoots the ball at an efficient clip from mid-range and beyond the arc and does a terrific job of mixing up his approach offensively. McClure is a quality passer and conservative defender with the ability to make the right play with regularity.'

Lastly, don't forget 2022 6'4 JJ Hayes, 2022 6'4 Chance Thacker, and 2022 6'6 Oscar Lynch.  Lynch can stretch the floor with nice size, Hayes brings a nice ability to get downhill and physicality, and Thacker showed that he can finish at the rim and is aggressive in his attack.

It was fun to watch this group in action at the Phenom G3 Showcase and they should only continue to bring more attention their way with college coaches.
