Apex Friendship hosted Lee County in a little Pre-Thanksgiving regular season matchup last night. Friendship was in total control throughout the contest and ended up leaving the gym with a 75-47 victory. Let’s take a look at the magical five performers from the game!
6’7 2020 Nick Farrar: Apex Friendship/NC State Signee (18 Points, 7-9 FG)
Farrar was a one man wrecking crew in his limited minutes last night. He’s looking to get downhill at will regardless of who or how many people are guarding him. Lee County went with a matchup zone against Farrar and it wasn’t quite effective as he was able to get where he wanted whenever he wanted. As Nick continues to get his legs under him and get into a rhythm by playing on a regular basis again, expect him to become more dominant. NC State is getting an absolute gem that plays the game with purpose and heart.
6’4 2020 Jayden Beloti: Apex Friendship (8 Points)
Beloti is a wing that’s simply wired to score. He does an excellent job getting downhill and to the basket where he uses an array of moves to finish at the cup. He will keep defenses honest this year if he can maintain confidence in his jumper and will provide an incredible secondary scoring option to Nick Farrar as Apex Friendship looks to make a run at the NCHSAA 4A Title this season.
6’0 2021 Luke Proctor: Apex Friendship (9 Points)
Proctor got his first career start last night with the absence of Kenny Noland (Family Obligations) and provided a great balance of outside scoring and steady playmaking. He has a natural feel for the game and looks to be more than qualified to play a legitimate role for this Apex Friendship team throughout the season. He hit a barrage of 3s in the first quarter when he was off the ball and then orchestrated the offense with the 2nd unit throughout the rest of the game. As Proctor continues to get comfortable in his expanded role, expect him to come up with timely performances for Apex Friendship on the year. It never hurts when you have additional shooting and ball handling on the floor.
6’2 2021 Trey Barker: Apex Friendship (10 Points)
Barker did a really nice job coming in off the bench and knocking down shots. He’s got solid size for a 2 guard of his level and undoubtedly deserves some recognition for the way he played in this contest. He should see some minutes for this Friendship team in spots and if he continues to capitalize on his opportunities he’ll be a more and more valuable piece to this roster.
6’6 2020 Jarrian Hancock: Lee County (14 Points)
Hancock was the most intriguing prospect on Lee County’s roster due to his size, explosiveness, and lateral quickness. He had multiple emphatic blocks where he just elevated above the opposition. He should continue to gain traction within his recruitment if he can continue to produce and show progress in his shooting touch and ball skills. He’s an electric player that should have some next level opportunities.
