THOUGHTS ON CORUM:
After traveling to Lynchburg, Virginia earlier this year to scout Middleburg Academy’s game against VES, we didn’t expect to see such a strong set of talent on the Middleburg side. Andrew Corum immediately stuck out. He is a strong, lengthy player that has the ability to score from all angles. Whether it’s the deep three, a mid-range jumper, or a Ginobli like Euro-Step, he can do it all. Although Corum is only 6’6”, he isn’t afraid to matchup with any opposing competition. He uses his absurd bounce to play with some of Virginia’s most talented players. Corum is a fantastic rebounder and has phenomenal court vision that gives him the ability to play all positions on the floor. If he isn’t posting up and battling defenders in the post, Corum works the ball around and always tries to find an open man. On the defensive side, Corum is a hoss. He can guard any position on the floor and uses his strength and long arms to lockup his opponents. Corum blocks shots, forces steals, and isn’t afraid to draw a charge. He is reliable, smart, and confident in all aspects of the game. Corum is explosive and can finish at the rim with either hand. After a successful season this past year, Corum was named the VISAA D3 State Player of the Year. He led his Dragons’ squad to a state title, and was invited to our Virginia Top 80 Camp this past March. Corum is the type of player that everyone loves to play with. His sole purpose is to make the players around him better, and to have fun in the process. Hoop Hill is a very underrated squad. If Corum can catch fire and find a way to create plays, we wouldn’t be surprised if his team made a little noise in Greensboro this weekend. Coaches and scouts, pay close attention to this Middleburg star. Definitely one of VISAA’s most talented players.
