An Insider’s Take
Elijah McCadden Commits to Georgia Southern
By Jamie Shaw

6’6” 2018 Guard – Ranked #17 in NCs 2018 Class

McCadden is good, we know this. However, I think what gets lost is how good McCadden really is. He first walked through our doors as a freshman, playing in the prestigious North Carolina Top 80.

That event is invite-only and brings together the best players in the state of North Carolina to compete against one another. As a freshman in this event, McCadden looked like he belonged. As a junior McCadden looked like he had grown into a dominate force. That is not surprising, every tool necessary is there.

The high academic McCadden has great length and athleticism, defensively his upside is as a multi positional defensive stopper. On offense he fits into a lot of roles. When he gets downhill, he is aggressive and explosive at the rim. As a secondary ball handler, he has great pace and good vision to get the team going.

Throughout the process McCadden claimed offers from the likes of Wake Forest, Old Dominion, Western Kentucky, Hofstra, Quinnipiac, Towson, James Madison, Charlotte and others. Following their two person 2017 class, McCadden is the first commitment in Georgia Southern’s 2018 class.

Make sure not to miss McCadden and Greenfield School in Phenom’s Feast of Champions on November 24-25 in Fayetteville, NC.

2015 North Carolina Top 80
Elijah is already touted as one of the better freshman in the state. He already sports a college ready frame of length and tremendous athleticism. What separates Elijah is his ability to handle and pass the ball for his size and grade, plus he plays the PG position. He has a silky smooth game and a soft shooting touch, but upside and potential are written all over this young prospect. Be sure to put Elijah McCadden in your SIM CARD.

2016 Phenom’s National Showcase
6’6” 2018 Elijah McCadden
McCadden is quick as a hiccup getting into the lane. He showed, very good vision, making the proper pass or finish once there. He carries a very long frame, with high and wide shoulders. Still very young, McCadden has a 3.9 GPA, he claims offers from Wake Forest, Old Dominion, and Charlotte. William and Mary was in to see him during practice. The upside here is huge, I’m not even sure he realizes how good he could be.

2017 North Carolina Top 80
6’6” 2018 Elijah McCadden (Greenfield School) – McCadden is a player who does all the little things on the floor to win. He defends the ball and the wing, he rebounds and he passes very well. In this setting he showed the ability to attack the rim and finish in traffic. He is a guard with superb wingspan and when he gets in that attack mode, he is troubling to stop and very good rebounding guard. His Wake Forest offer is looking more and more like the norm to come.
