In preparation for the showcase, we will take a closer look at each matchup and overview some of the anticipated storylines…

Gaston Day vs. Carolina International

Kicking off the second half of the slate, Gaston Day takes on Carolina International in a battle between two squads from the suburbs of Charlotte. In looking at Gaston Day (12-5), they have primarily taken care of business this season. Outside of their most recent contest, the Spartans have only lost to title contenders. This team has largely outperformed early expectations given their incredibly young core. Beyond their lone senior (Ben Chotkowski), they’ve found success behind their balanced group of Deshawn Coulter, Dylan Bradley, Braylen Todd, Griffen Simpson, Hunter Gerould, and Dyson Britt. Although certainly prepared for the future, this squad will continue to cause problems for opponents this season. Meanwhile, the Comets of Carolina International look to steer back in the right direction after starting the season 9-0 and losing their last three games. Although KJ Shouse is the clear leader and focal point, this roster has a lot of enticing pieces. Landon Griffin is a college-level piece, Brent Banks has been an incredibly valuable addition, Kendall Salter is quietly an x-factor, Josiah Bridges fills in the gaps, and the duo of Jex Gerringer and Rylan Leak finds opportunities as needed. Given the talent, coaching, and general competitiveness, expect this to be a legitimate battle.
