Cam Hayes has been a young rising star in the state of North Carolina, as he has recently been named a 5-star prospect by Rivals.com.

But it is no surprise that this young man is rising up the rankings with his ability and skill set at such a young age.

Phenom Hoops wrote about him last year about this time, when he participated in the prestigious NC Top 80, an event that brings the top talent around the state of North Carolina under one building.  Hayes displayed his natural feel for the game at a young age, saying  Hayes has good length and athleticism and a natural feel about him on the basketball court. He has a full package as a point guard, with the ability to get into the paint and deep range with soft touch on his jump shot. He broke out in this event to be thought of as a highest level type recruit. Hayes’ camp coach stated, “Camren is a high major PG. His pull up jump shot is automatic, and he shoots the 3 consistently. He is able to make plays for himself and others with next level vision.”

At that time, he was still relatively unknown but times have certainly changed now.  Hayes sits today with offers from NC State, Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, while several other high-major programs are starting to show interest his way.  Phenom Hoops Jamie Shaw sat down with him to learn more about what is going with him lately, while also discussing Greensboro Day’s huge win against rival Wesleyan.
