Player: El Ellis
Class: Senior
Position: Guard

Last Year’s Stats: Cardinal fans were excited to get one of the top JUCO prospects in El Ellis last year and the guard really excelled with his opportunity, as Ellis averaged 8.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from the floor and 36 percent from three.  He also saw action in 32 games.  Ellis also came off the bench in 23 games, scoring in double figures in 10 of those games.

Now, with the key losses that Louisville had from last year, it will be interesting to see what more opportunities Ellis will receive.  The ball should be in his hands more, his minutes should increase, and in being a senior, he will be counted on in stepping up even more and being a consistent threat.

Being an athletic guard and one that understands how to score but also be a playmaker, it will be interesting to see the impact that Ellis will have as a senior leader.  He has shown he can be a threat from multiple levels, as he averaged nearly 18ppg at Tallahassee CC and shot nearly 42 percent from three.  He probably won’t get to those numbers, but Ellis should be a double-digit guard this season for Louisville.  The Cardinals didn’t have anyone average double-figures last season and only averaged 67 points per game as a team, so with Ellis’ production, it could be a huge help for his team.

Not only could he be effective in running the show as a point guard as well as a leader, but Ellis should also still be that scoring threat with his ability to create and knock down shots.
