Summer ball is just around the corner (or so we can hope) and if you are like us, we can’t wait to get back on the court. Teams will be competing throughout the summer on the Phenom Hoops platform, as we will be getting a chance to check out some old talent, some new talent, and some young talent.

But we want to start diving into a few teams to watch for this summer, as we get closer and closer to being back on the courts.

We spoke with coaches to help provide some in-depth knowledge and names to watch down the road.

Team Swish 17u

2021 Kabe Ellis

Coach's Breakdown: Quick point guard who has the ball on a string.  Kabe is also a very good passer.  He averaged over 21.5 points per game for Andrews High School with 106 assists and 94 steals and was voted All-Conference and to the NCBCA All-District Second Team.

2022 Reid Carrier

Coach's Breakdown: Sophomore point guard with tremendous upside.  Reid is a high level 3-point shooter and can play both guard positions.  Reid averaged 22.9 points per game at Highlands High School.  He was an All-Conference as well as an All-WNC player.

2021 John Tastinger

Coach's Breakdown: Guard with tremendous work ethic.  John is an excellent shooter and also has a high basketball IQ.  John is very good at rebounding and creates extra possessions for his team.

2021 Quenton Harris

Coach's Breakdown: Mr. Versatility.  He is a big-time athlete who plays above the rim.  At 6’6″, he can guard positions 1-5 on defense.  His best basketball is ahead of him as he didn’t start playing until 9th grade.  Tremendous upside here.

2021 Alex Taylor

Coach's Breakdown: Alex is the ultimate competitor.  He completes every possession.  Alex is also a great shooter and is primed for a great senior season at East Henderson High School.

2021 Tariq Underwood

Coach's Breakdown: 6’10” big man with lots of potential.  Tariq has good hands and can finish around the rim.  He continues to grow his skills and could be a force for Cherokee High School next season.

2022 Devon Slagle

Coach's Breakdown: Devon is an excellent shooter with unlimited range.  He also has a nice handle which make him hard to guard.  As Devon continues to get stronger, he could become a nice addition for Moravian Prep next season.

2021 Spencer Cable

Coach's Breakdown: Mr. Hustle.  Lefty SG with a nice stroke.  Spencer just plays the game the right way.  He is a great leader and makes everyone around him better.

2021 N'Fari Benjamin

Coach's Breakdown: Shifty guard who can get to the rim anytime he wants.  He has also developed into a reliable 3pt shooter.  He creates havoc on defense as he has the ability to keep his man in front for 94ft.

2021 Carl Thorpe

Coach's Breakdown: Athletic forward with tremendous upside.  He plays above the rim and is also an excellent shot blocker.
