It has certainly been a year to remember for Wilbraham & Monson Academy and one of their fast-rising sophomores. 2022 6’9 Kyle Filipowski was part of a team that helped secure its first New England title since 1986 and then earned a spot on the first-team New England Prep School Athletic Council Class AA All-League team.

After a season in which he averaged 20.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 20 double-doubles while shooting 55 percent from the floor, it wasn’t only the voter’s eyes that he caught.  Filipowski has now earned three early high-major offers along with a few others and it may just be the start for him.

Filipowski would consider himself an all-around type of player with the ability to post up with his 6’9 frame but also take it out on the perimeter and score.

“I’ve played basically every position on the court and feel comfortable wherever the coach puts me but it also depends on the mismatch situation,” he told Phenom Hoops. “I’ve been focusing more on the guard side with my ball handling and getting my shot more consistent, along with my physical aspect with getting quicker to be able to guard smaller guards.”

With his game and ability to impact multiple spots on the floor, college coaches have quickly been jumping on the sophomore prospect as he now holds offers from UCLA, Vanderbilt, Providence, Stony Brook, Marist, and Bryant, while schools like Boston, Brown, Harvard, Purdue, Clemson, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Nebraska all seem to have him on their radar.

Right now though, Filipowski is just soaking it all in, letting the recruiting process go since it is just beginning for him.  He hasn’t had a chance to really dive into any of the programs to learn more about what they have to offer but he is starting to build those needed relationships with all the schools and coaches.

With three big offers now joining in and his multi-dimensional game, it seems that Filipowski could be in for an even bigger jump as far as his recruitment goes and the young sophomore could a hot name this summer and heading into next year’s high school season.
