Phenom Hoops have been taking a glance around the state of South Carolina at a few intriguing prospects that also have the attention of college coaches.  2022 6'4 Jordan Simpson is one of those players.

This past season, Simpson led the Bruins at Orangeburg-Wilkinson averaging 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game.  We got a full true sense of his game recently at the South Carolina Top 80, where we had this to say about his game:

'Next, we look at a player that certainly stood out as one of the top three-point shooters in attendance, Jordan Simpson. He's a long, wiry wing prospect with a clear identity and team-first approach on both ends of the floor. Simpson is a useful ball-handler and passer with solid vision, but he embraces his role as a knockdown shooter and high-level spot-up threat. He's absolutely lights-out from mid-range and beyond the arc, and moves without the ball as well as anyone from camp. Simpson displays a nice IQ when pursuing rebounds, able to position himself properly and utilize his length to secure extra possessions.'

This offseason, Simpson is looking to expand his game, while also getting his body in the best shape he can to prepare him for next year and the future.  When speaking with him, he mentioned that he has been doing a lot of endurance and strength training, as well as working on a few factors of his game.

'Becoming more explosive off the dribble, making all makeable shots and working to become a better on-ball defender,' he replied.  'Been training like a pro to be in great condition.'

As far as his recruitment has been going, Simpson has already earned offers from North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State, Claflin, Miles, and Denmark Tech.  He has also earned strong interests from College of Charleston, Winthrop, Wake Forest, and Nicholls State.

With his ability to shoot the ball at a high level and score the ball, Simpson has an intriguing game that college coaches find interesting.

'They love my size and that I am a combo guard,' he said when asked what college coaches have been saying how he could fit in with them.  'Plus, I can stretch the defense because of my range on my jumper.  Once I become a better on-ball defender, I should be ok.'

South Carolina has a lot of intriguing prospects in the Class of 2022 and Jordan Simpson has fully planted himself in that category.
