Every year at the Phenom PG Nationals, it seems that we have new names that come about and catch our eyes.  A lot of times, we are surprised when we learn more about their recruitment but that only means that a program could get a late steal if they are still looking to fill out their roster late.

That one player for me in Rock Hill was 2022 6'10 Jaden Martin from Westlake Prep.  His style of play and impact on the floor was immediately felt when he was on the court in every game and capped it off with a huge performance in the championship game.

In the championship game, Martin finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks, but those are numbers that were consistent throughout the event. Martin's long, athletic frame quickly pops out to go along with his fluid skill set. He has a tremendous wingspan that he uses to finish strong at the rim, showing touch over big defenders, and also be a rim-protector on the other end. Martin utilizes his length extremely well and surprised us with his comfort in handling the ball at times, running in transition, and his impact on the boards as well.

His impact on the court was immediately seen on Day 1, where we had this to say:

'Martin had a strong showing, as the 6'10 prospect really showed his ability to be mobile on the court, display his athleticism on the boards and around the basket offensively, and bring a presence as a shot-blocker as well. Really liked his activity and couldn't be slowed down to end the day.'

Right now, when talking to Martin, he mentioned that his only offer right now has been with Eastern Michigan as they have been keeping tabs on him but he has also been hearing a lot from Saint Louis as well as of late.
