The season has come to an end for many around the country, including here in North Carolina but that just gives us time to look back and reflect on a few teams and programs. One of those programs that deserve the spotlight has to be the Liberty Heights program, as they brought two teams to the national spotlight, and both had historic seasons to remember.

Starting with the Liberty Heights National team under head coach Mike Wright, they were able to finish the season with 30 wins which included wings against Moravian Prep, Combine Academy, National Christian, Word of God, Blue Ridge, Our Savior Lutheran, and TSF, while also winning Beach Ball Classic and most recently Big Shots Prep Nationals. They have also put several players on the map for college coaches, as they will certainly be some of the most targeted players left remaining in the class of 2022, along with a national recruit in Silas Demary Jr. who is part of the class of 2023.  This was a program that embraced competition and came out to prove that they were worthy of being a nationally ranked program and they did just that.  Led by their leader in Coach Wright, this was a team that played hard every night, produced as a team, and truly modeled the word 'team.'

And what makes this season so great for this overall program, was that not only did the national team produce at a high level, but the varsity team had a season to remember as well under head coach AJ Jones.  Liberty Heights Varsity finished the season with 33 wins on the season, which included wins against The Rock School National, DME Academy, Concord Academy, Huntington Prep, Denver Prep, TSF, Miler School, Wayne Country Day, and several others.  It also allowed for several seniors to shine on the big stage and capture the eyes of several college coaches, as this is still a team loaded with unsigned seniors that can produce at the next level.

Overall, this is a program that won 63 total games on the year, competed against and won against several high-level teams, and never backed down from competition, all while giving their kids an opportunity. Coach Wright and Coach Jones are highly respected for what they have been able to do with their players, as they truly care about each player around them. They want all of them to succeed and they embrace being a family. This is why the future looks bright for those two, as it doesn't look either one will be slowing down anytime soon.

Congrats Liberty Heights, as a program, on a historic season to remember and representing the HoopState well throughout.
