Andrews is young prospect that you simple just have love what he brings to the table. He is a gritty, grinding prospect that just gets the job done. Whether it is stepping up on the defensive end and making those extra effort plays, or showing his ability to score the ball on multiple levels, Andrews simply produces. He showed that on multiple occasions when we recently saw him in action at the Teammate Nationals in Rock Hill.

Phenom Hoops Evaluation:

We look at a player that was easily among the most impressive two-way performers on display, Christian Andrews. He's a tough, strong, aggressive guard prospect that showed flashes of pure dominance defensively. Andrews is excellent at suffocating opponents with his quickness, positioning, and incredible instincts. He forced an abundance of turnovers at camp and immediately transitioned them into buckets on the other end. Andrews can attack the basket or set up others a quality rate. Next in his development process is working on moving without the ball, as it would allow him to find more scoring opportunities as an off-ball cutter. Coach Harmon on Andrews: 'Christian has a good feel for the game and is very strong handling the ball. He finishes in traffic well and is able to take contact and still finish. He's a good on-ball defender that is very tough. Christian has a quick/explosive first step. His jumper can be more consistent and he needs to work hard on offense when he doesn't have the ball.' Andrews was exceptional during camp, securing the Mr. Playmaker award with relative ease, and could be an immediate contributor at the high school level with continued work.

Coach's Thoughts:

Christian Andrews has played at all levels in basketball in the North Carolina setting. Varsity player as a 7th grader, reclassing in the 8th grade and taking his 8th-grade team to an undefeated season while leading in every statistic including scoring, steals, assistance and blocks. Christian is now playing up in the 2023 class as the starting point guard. Christians roll is the 'Floor general.' He leads by example posing some of the best on the ball defense any opposing team's guards and coaches have seen.

Christian will pressure the ball handler making the passing lanes easier to cheat for his fellow guards. His defensive lateral movement is what is impressive. Christian doesn't wait for the 5-second call. He steals the ball and looks ahead for the outlet pass create 3-on-2, 2-on-1 scenarios on multiple positions. Christian is a 'must-have' defensively on the court. When a highlight reel is put together on this 2024 guard, his defensive stops are always included.

Not only can Christian guard some of the best D1 prospects in 2023, he can distribute that ball. His focus and his willingness to make the highlight pass as to the highlight score is almost unmatchable. He instantly makes any player within his offense a contributor. Christian can score on all three levels but prefers and is best at scoring inside taking most on ball defenders off the dribble. He will either dish the ball to a cutter or a shooter in the corners. At 5'11 and a 2024 player his IQ far surpasses almost anyone on the court.
