The talent around the region that is still available in the Class of 2025 is eye-opening, but Phenom Hoops is here to highlight players who are must-see prospects for D1 schools if they are looking to secure a late snag in the class. This is a series of articles that will be bringing new names for schools to take a hard look at.

2025 6’7 Tayeshaun Smith

If there is a D1 program looking for a strong forward, 2025 6’7 Tayeshaun Smith would be a player I would have my eyes on from Combine Academy. We have watched Smith excel and develop over the years into the player he is today.

When first watching him, Smith was one that brought a physical feel to the court as he is incredibly strong, can embrace contact, and finishes strong through defenders as well as being physical in several other areas. He moved well and ran the floor, getting to his spots early on, and understanding how to battle through defenders in the paint.  But what has been impressive with his game is how he has continued to develop and add more overall. Smith has been able to really flourish and show his impact at Combine Academy, continuing to be a force around the basket but also he is comfortable in stepping out to knock down shots from multiple levels. He is a forward who can be effective in facing up with his mid-range game but also shows confidence from beyond as well.  Smith has added more to his game overall while also showing that he can be strong on the glass, bullying and battling against defenders, as well as finding open teammates and showing his vision as a big.

Right now, Smith holds offers from Jacksonville, Oakland, Charleston, Arizona State, Illinois State, Iowa, High Point, and Nebraska. However, there are plenty of programs around the region that could use a prospect like him for the future, and they should be looking more his way.
