2027 Ashlyn Black (North Lincoln)
Black was a newer name for us that captured our eyes with her size and playmaking ability. She was a strong creator off the dribble, attacking well out in transition and looking to score but also finding success in getting to the line. She was a multi-level scorer throughout her showing and should be a player to watch more in the coming years.
2027 Ally Smith (North Lincoln)
Smith was a natural leader on the court; I was really impressed with her composure, and her ability to lead the offense, she found ways to attack and create well, while also creating extra opportunities off the boards. She stepped up big for her team, especially in the second half vs. Hickory Ridge to help lead her team to a victory.
2026 Ma-Kaela Gidney (Hickory Ridge)
Gidney is simply a tough, scrappy guard that competes so well on both ends of the court. Every time we saw her, she seemed to be making a play whether it was knocking down shots of the catch, being a playmaker for her team, facilitating to open teammates, and putting her body on the line defensively to make plays. She did a little bit of everything and played with a great motor.
2025 Rayana Minard (Lake Norman)
Minard was part of a strong overall showing from Lake Norman but what impressed was not only her ability to create and make plays offensively but also how active she was defensively. Time after time she was able to get her hands on the ball, creating turnovers and turning it into points for her team. She was a strong presence on both sides of the ball throughout.
2028 Za’Miya Bynum (Queens Grant)
Bynum is having an off-the-charts season so far as just a freshman, so we were eager to see her game. She didn’t disappoint and certainly solidified her name with the best here in the state early on. Incredibly skilled guard who gets where she wants, as she is excellent with the ball in her hands and attacking. Easy to see why she is an elite scorer but she makes her impact in all areas of the court. Impressive showing.
2026 Kelsey Rhyne (Lake Norman)
There is no doubt about it… Lake Norman is looking like a title contender and they are at their best when Rhyne is letting it fly and being a weapon form deep. She showed that on Day 2, hitting multiple threes with confidence and a quick release. Rhyne is such a gamechanger on the court and she showed why from the outside. But also does a great job in mixing it up and making plays off the bounce at times.
