2028 DJ Lindsey (Charlotte Country Day)
Getting my first viewing of the young guard at CCDS, we were all impressed with what this young was able to provide and how he wasn’t afraid of the bright lights on the big stage. Lindsey did a great job in helping lead the charge offensively, dictating the game, playing strong and being crafty with the ball in his hands, putting pressure offensively with his ability to attack off the dribble, and being a true playmaker on the court. Strong young guard who plays with a ton of confidence.
2028 JJ Sati-Grier (Charlotte Performance Institute)
If you are looking for one of the top point guards in the state, Sati-Grier is one that I would be tracking early and often. Though we have watched him on several occasions, getting a chance to see him in a high school setting was fun to watch. Grier has an elite feel for the game at his age, as he is a true playmaking point guard with the ball in his hands. He was crafty with his handles, was able to get by defenders and set up teammates extremely well, deliver on-point passes in tight spaces, and show touch in finishing and scoring. He has a chance to be special as he continues to grow and develop.
2028 Chase Smith (Queen’s Grant)
Smith has been a very familiar face with Phenom Hoops over the last year or more, so we have come to expect what he brings to the table with his game. But for fans just learning about this young man’s game, he is one to truly watch in the freshman class. He has great size already as a young prospect, being a physically imposing player down in the paint. Smith is a skilled and smart big man that excels around the basket, attacks the basket and finishes strong, brings a good defensive presence, and continues to add more to his game each time we see him. We are eager to see how this young man continues to develop.
2028 Mekhi Allen (Queen’s Grant)
Queen’s Grant has plenty of talent that should be on radars down the road. We talked about the big man in Chase Smith, but they have another young freshman that you will want to pay attention to in 2028 Mekhi Allen. He is a unique and talented young prospect, one that brings a versatile game that allows him to be an effective option from outside as well as making plays in other areas. Allen has shown that he excels in getting to his spots, knocking down shots from behind the arc with a fluid release. But he has also shown the ability to create for himself, display good bounce in his game, and guard multiple positions.
