The season has kicked off and high school basketball fans are getting a chance to see several new names here in North Carolina. There are plenty of new talents that came into the state this past offseason and they all are looking to make a statement this coming season. Well, we may have our first player on the list who made that statement, as Combine Academy’s 2025 6’7 Josiah Parker clearly introduced himself in a big way at the Carmel Tip-Off.
Parker is a 3-star prospect that is committed to FAU and who played in Georgia before coming to North Carolina. Now suiting up for the Goats at Combine Academy, Parker is showing all the flashes in his that may have him rising the ranks with Phenom Hoops and other outlets. Last year at Lee County High School, Parker averaged 15.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game, and he quickly showed that versatility and skillset with Combine Academy. Parker was simply off the charts in Matthews (NC), as he was incredibly productive all throughout. Parker is one who flourished with his ability to score the ball effectively, not only using his size but also his fluidity at his size. He ran the floor exceptionally well, beating defenders with ease, finding his way consistently in finishing in the paint, showing tremendous touch around the basket, showing quickness on the boards, and a versatile game that allows him to operate and be a playmaker in a variety of ways. Parker brings a nice balance of physicality as well as skill to the court, operating really well inside the arc. And his ability to see the floor and open up the offense was impressive as well.
Watching him and his production was impressive throughout the weekend and to start the season, but you could also see that he has a chance to add more to his game as he takes his game to the next level. But for now, he has clearly implemented his name among the best here in North Carolina this season.
