What He Said about His Game:
“I am a downhill layer, a great facilitator, a pest on defense, and can knock down the three. I can impact the game without scoring, I can rebound, stop the other team’s best player, get my teammates going, and get them open shots.”
What Was Said:
“People tend to forget that Maryland was my first high major offer. That always stood out to me and it showed me that they were the first big program to really see my potential. Coach Willard being from New York, that’s another thing, like I’d rather help a New York guy win over anyone else. The vibes I got from him ever since the day that I met him have always been great. Then you look at every point guard Coach Willard has ever had and they’ve always been successful. I think I could go over there and be the one next in line.” – Jeffrey with 247Sports
What Does This Commitment Mean to Maryland:
With Jeffrey’s commitment, it certainly helps build momentum for this program and now the Terps have their forward in 6’7 Marcus Jackson and a strong guard to help lead the charge in 6’3 Christian Jeffrey. When watching highlights in his game, one can see that this is a strong, sturdy guard who does an excellent job in making plays with the ball in his hands. Makes good reads, is a strong creator with the ball in his hands, attacks and finishes well downhill, but can also knock down shots at times as well. He plays with a strong motor and brings a physical presence to the court, something that will help him at Maryland and in conference play. The Terps could be losing quite a bit of talent in the coming years with key guys graduating, especially at the guard position. So the commitment of Jeffrey will certainly help in that area and his style of play should be able to fit in.
