Phenom Hoops released its 2027 Rankings this week, and this is a class that is loaded with talent of all levels. The Class of 2027 here in NC is shaping up nicely, as we first talked about the national names already but these players below are not far behind them and should be looked at very closely in the coming years.

2027 Rankings: https://www.phenomhoopreport.com/2027-north-carolina-rankings/

2027 6’9 Charles Pur (Burlington Christian)

Pur has been one we have watched a lot this summer and he has a chance to put his name on the national list sooner rather than later. But we are here to say that this is a young big to seriously watch out for as he continues to grow and develop.  Early on though, the 6’9 center has clearly added more to his game and is just starting to understand what he is capable of being. He shows crafty footwork and feel in the post along with touch, but his impact on altering/ blocking shots is highly intriguing.  Pur has a chance to be one of the top bigs in the state and in the region.

2027 6’5 RJ Moore (Corvian Community)

Moore is another interesting prospect to keep an eye on and has been catching college programs’ eyes early on. He had a tremendous freshman season and backed it up this summer as well. There is a lot of intrigue with his development and skillset, as he has a knack for being an offensive weapon, scoring from multiple levels, scoring over defenders, knocking down shots, and showing crafty handles, and still has a ton of potential left in his game. With his size, he can be a tough matchup, and Moore could be one of those next man up in the Class of 2027.

2027 6’1 Lincoln Vinson (Davidson Day)

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Vinson, we are here to say that this is a guard to take seriously and one that you need to watch more.  We didn’t know much about him to start the season last year, but he quickly garnered our attention on Day 1 of the high school season. Vinson is a tough competitor who doesn’t back down from anyone and plays with a strong feel. He understands how to make good reads and decisions, scores tough baskets and creates well, and plays with a ton of confidence in his ability to knock down shots.

2027 6’5 James Minlend (Concord Academy)

Minlend is another player who has a ton of potential and still has plenty of time to really figure out just what he is capable of being with his game. The 6’5 prospect has a lot of early intangibles that you have to like along with a basketball background that should certainly help him. He is long, athletic, and shows the ability to be a capable scorer from a variety of levels.  And again, he is just scratching the surface of what we believe he could be; he has a lot of upside left in his game and we are eager to see him tap into it.
