Marquette has been on a role this summer for its recruiting class for 2025.  Shaka Smart and his staff have been making waves in the last few months with four commitments for 2025, with the latest coming from Adrien Stevens and not long ago with Michael Phillips. With four commitments on board, the Golden Eagles are looking to build a strong recruiting class early, as we break down more of each and why Marquette was the place for them in the end.

2025 6’3 Adrien Stevens

Why did you choose Marquette:

“I chose Marquette because of the relationships that I have built with the people that are there. The coaches have done a great job at getting to know my family and I, and I have great relationships with some of the players that are there. Coach Smart has believed in me since day one and Marquette is a place I believe where I can become the best version of myself both on and off the court.”

When we spoke with Stevens back in December of 2023, Marquette stood strong with him then as well.  This is a program that has been on Stevens for quite some time now, and it seems like the two have built a strong relationship over time.

We also asked him to describe more of his game, shedding more light on what he hopes to bring to the program in the coming years. “I like to get to my spots on offense and find efficient shots for myself and my teammates,” he said. “On defense, I love to play with intensity and create turnovers and fast-break opportunities.”

2025 6’7 Michael Phillips

Why did you choose Marquette:

“The decision was really based on the relationships I developed with the coaching staff as well as my personal development and growth as a player. The coaching staff has been extremely supportive of me throughout the recruiting process. They believe in me, not only as a player but as a person as well.”

Phillips is one that we have been on for some time now, maybe longer than anyone in the industry as we had multiple opportunities to watch him.  Year after year, we have seen growth in his game, as Phillips has a high ceiling for his game.  If he can reach that point, one can see a player that offers a lot on the court with his shot-making, his range, his athleticism, his ability to impact the game on both sides, and can be an absolute force on the court.

2025 6’1 Nigel James

Why he chose Marquette:

“I chose Marquette because of my relationship with the coaching staff and players,” he told On3 in an article. “They genuinely care about my growth and when I had bad or tough games they were still there because they trusted me.”

James, a 6’1 guard, is one that has caught our eyes before with just how tough he is. He battles, he competes and brings a strong offensive production that should be able to help his incoming teammates as well as bring production on both sides.

 2025 6’7 Ian Miletic

Miletic is another prospect who announced his commitment back in June, as the 6’7 lefty prospect is one that could help provide shot-making for Marquette in the future. Though there is still development with his game, his range and quick release are quickly recognized within his game along with his size.  He has been ranked as a 3-star prospect by many outlets.
