The USA Club Championships brought a ton of talent to the courts, as Phenom Hoops had a chance to check out a ton of talent of all ages.  One player that has been garnering a lot of interest early on has been 2027 guard Kevin Savage with Game Elite, as he has been earning impressive offers and interest early on. We spoke 1-on-1 with Savage to learn more about his game and what he expects for the upcoming season.  We also talk about what has been going on early on in his recruitment. Check out what he had to say.

Phenom: How did this summer go for you overall? What were you hoping to show more with your game?
Savage: My summer went really well. I felt like I played well. I was hoping to show that I’m more than just a guard who can set the table, I can score the ball.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game?
Savage: First off, I’m a winner. I will do whatever it takes to win the game. I’m a true floor general who doesn’t mind getting my hands dirty.

Phenom: What areas have you been focusing on in developing?
Savage: Getting stronger and being sharper in my pick-and-roll reads. Lastly, just working on my body language.

Phenom: What is your excitement about this upcoming high school season?
Savage: I feel like we have a real shot to win states. I should have a bigger role this season and we have some transfers coming in that I have been playing with since we were young.

Phenom: What has been the latest in your recruitment early on?
Savage: It has been going well. Auburn and Ole Miss have been very consistent. Both of those schools have been there from the start, especially Ole Miss. I just recently picked up offers from Hampton and Cincinnati. I’ve received a bunch of interest from schools like Tennessee and Purdue; that is just a couple that have been in touch. I’m extremely blessed to have some early success but I understand I have to keep working hard.

Phenom: What have coaches been saying your way?
Savage: A lot of coaches have been saying they love the way I play, they love the way I control the game, and they also love the fact that my team enjoys playing with me.

Phenom: What schools would you like to visit down the road?
Savage: Ole Miss, Purdue, Auburn, and Cincinnati.

Phenom: Any specific dates?
Savage: Not yet, my first one should be coming soon.
