At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, hundreds of players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today’s edition will highlight Abrahm Driver of Florida Sports Coast PG.

We’ve seen Driver countless times over the years, previously stating, “While Driver might not get a ton of press or attention, he’s as steady of a contributor as anyone on the Bull City roster. He possesses a strong, sturdy body and a great presence around the basket, which allows him to effectively operate out of the post, carry his weight as a rebounder, and capitalize on second-chance opportunities. Driver doesn’t force the action and consistently operates within the team concept. He highlights IQ, touch, footwork, and a willingness to make the right play from the low block. Later followed by, “Regardless of context or setting, Driver simply knows how to produce and make his presence felt in every single contest. He’s quietly one of the more consistent players across the state, simply because everything he does is smart, straightforward, and fundamentally sound. Driver displays touch, feel, and footwork around the basket, but can also knock down perimeter jumpers at a solid clip. He’s a steady rebounding presence and runs the floor properly in transition.”

Since then, Driver has continued to progress. He’s an incredibly steady piece who seems to reliably produce in every context or setting. Driver is arguably at his best when slotted on the block, where he’s able to showcase his touch, footwork, and arsenal of scoring moves. However, he’s made strides as a floor-spacer and overall threat off the bounce. Driver displays an active motor, which allows him to consistently rebound and make hustle plays. He’s also a useful defender with the necessary length and instincts to cause problems for opponents. Given everything we’ve seen, it would be shocking if Driver were anything other than a useful piece at the next level.
