Player: DeShawn Hall
Class: 2027
School: Valiant Cross Academy

The high school season has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean Phenom Hoops isn’t checking out talent all around the county and looking for new prospects. We recently started reviewing film down in Alabama, and there is a freshman who certainly fits the “up next” category. 2027 6’5 Deshawn Hall from Valiant Cross Academy is coming off a huge season in leading his team, averaging 22ppg, 14rpg, 4spg, 4apg, and 4.5bpg to help the Warriors to a 22-6 overall record.

When watching more of his film, you can’t help but notice his blend of size and skillset at an early age.  Standing at 6’5, Hall looks to be a strong wing/guard prospect, especially if he continues to grow and develop. He is exceptional already at filling up the stat sheet and being a versatile piece; as a scorer, rebounder, facilitator, and one that can make plays on both sides of the ball. He excels now using his size to his advantage, attacking out in transition, displaying great body control and finishing capabilities, attacking the rim with his athleticism, and getting downhill hill consistently. But he shows the potential and ability to knock down shots with his pull-up game and stretching it outside as well, though he should only continue to develop more and add more to his game.

Speaking to Hall personally about his game, he would describe his game as “a facilitating inside-out scorer.” He likes to model his game after Paul George, and you can see those flashes in his game. Again, he is just coming off his freshman season, but Hall has the makings of being a big-time prospect in the area and should be hearing more from schools quickly.

Hall is also a football prospect as well, and he recently made a visit to Auburn for football but also was able to check out the basketball side of things. And when speaking to him, he would say basketball is his number one option. It is still incredibly early but Hall is already receiving interest from schools like Georgetown, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Alabama State; however, that list should only continue to grow. When asked about his dream school, Hall said Michigan would be up there for him.
