Phenom Hoops continues to provide some of the latest news and introduce players on our platform, and the latest player that we talked to was 2026 6’6 Ethan Joling from Hortonville HS. Joling is coming off a season in which he finished averaging 15.5ppg, second on his team, as the Bears finished 15-11 overall. He has been catching the eyes of programs early on, adding a new offer to his list already and more could be coming.

Learn more about his game, his past season, and all the latest in his recruitment in our latest 1-on-1.

Phenom: How was everything this past season for you and your team?

Joling: Our varsity team had some ups and downs early on as we were trying to figure out our identity. Once we got going and started to mesh, we played some really good basketball and beat some tough teams. We finished the season strong, finally ending in a close match with Neenah. Thanks to the support from my team, I was able to have a very successful season. Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to earn 1st Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game and how you like to operate? Where do you flourish?

Joling: I would best describe my game as a three-level scorer who can facilitate the ball while being able to defend 1-5. I like to operate by controlling the pace of the game and not allowing the defense to speed me up. Valuing possessions and team success are my main focus in each game.

Phenom: What areas of your game have you been working on to develop?

Joling: I am always working on my fundamental skills, from ball handling, to shooting, and passing. One of my goals this off-season is to become a better transition shooter along with being more explosive off the dribble.

Phenom: What are your thoughts on your latest offer? What did the staff have to say, who has been your main contact, and what do you know about them?

Joling: The offer I just received from Southern Mississippi is very exciting.  I have been following them for the past couple years and really like how they play smart team ball.  I look forward to being able to visit the campus.

Phenom: What other offers do you hold? And who has been strong with you from those?

Joling: Currently I hold additional offers from Bryant University and UW Milwaukee.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest that have yet to offer?

Joling: Nebraska and Northern Iowa are two schools showing the most interest at the moment.

Phenom: What schools have you been able to visit? If so, what did you like about each? Any schools you want to visit or any visits you have set up in the future?

Joling: Milwaukee, Marquette, Bradley, and Virginia are all schools I have visited and met the coaching staff.  Each school has very special opportunities and offers great environments to continue my education and basketball career.
