Continuing to watch all the action at the Pangos Best of SoCal League, Phenom Hoops found a very intriguing prospect that has gone a bit under the radar but has plenty of upside and potential. And once it comes together, from what we are seeing now, he will be a name to jump on board.

2026 6’10 Josh Irving really impressed and showed flashes of his potential. Though he needs to continue to grow and get stronger, he has a lot of intrigue with his overall feel early on and what he could ultimately be. Irving is a fluid, lengthy forward who runs the floor well, is active, and has tremendous timing on both sides, he can score with touch around the basket but is also capable of stretching the floor, and can be a difference-maker on the defensive end. Absolutely loved his feel in operating and making plays around the basket, finishing at the rim, and his overall footwork; all intangibles that should translate nicely as he continues to get stronger overall.

We spoke more to Irving after the event, to learn more about him and his game.

Phenom: How would you describe your game and how you like to operate?
Irving: I like to shoot the ball and I also like to catch lobs for dunks. I like to get my points usually down low like putbacks, rebounds, and stuff like that.

Phenom: How has your game been developing? What areas have you focused on?
Irving: My game has been developing fast, like I continue to work on my shooting on the machine, and working on my touch more down low.

Phenom: Though early, have you been hearing from any schools?
Irving: Yes, I have talked to a lot of coaches such as UCSB, Utah, Montana, and Irvine so far.

Phenom: Any player you like to model your game after?
Irving: I would like to play like Kuminga because I like the mid-range and can catch lobs like him.
