Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the springlike Piedmont! The Great One is here to recap the sectional finals and give out his regional semifinal winners. First off, he posted a 28-4 record, hitting all three of his upset picks but fell victim to upsets in the 2A, tallying a dismal 5-3 mark in that bracket. He did, however, sweep the board in 5 out of 8 regions, bringing his running total to 184-40, or 82.1%. The bell tolled midnight for most Cinderella teams but Chambers, Ben Smith, Fairmont, West Stokes, and Bertie are still dancing. Keep in mind The Great One judges a lower-seeded team as a Cinderella if they are taking down higher seeds but in reality, they could be stronger based on whether they’re in a tough league or not. Several juggernauts have emerged as Myers Park, Central Cabarrus, Wilson Prep, Corvian, Farmville, Southern Durham, Hickory, Reidsville, and Richmond have been plowing through their respective brackets. Some marquee matchups await as Myers Park – North Meck, Farmville – Northwood, Chambers – Lake Norman, Bertie – Washington County, and Green Level – Richmond are on the Friday night docket. Also, the 4A West Regional bracket is once again the Furious 5 Championship Tournament. Key injuries could alter destinies as we move forward but the big question is…Which storylines will emerge tomorrow night? Without further delay, let’s get….TO THE PICKS!Â
