Coming into the season, Christ School was riding high after coming off a state championship run last year, as they were able to put everyone on notice and achieve their ultimate goal with a title. But coming into this season, all eyes were on Christ School with nearly all their talent returning and many pegging them as one of, if not the, best team in the state.
They had some battles, but they were able to grow throughout the season. And coming in as the No. 3 seed, many thought that they were still the ones to beat in the 3A Division. There is something when one achieves a goal first without expectations but this year, high expectations were coming in; and there is something to say to achieve or surpass those expectations.
Christ School has shown that this is a team with plenty of weapons. They can hurt you inside and they can hurt you from outside; they also bring tremendous team size throughout their roster. Zymicah Wilkins, a 6’8 2025 prospect who is regarded as one of the top players in the state, showcased his dominance and his ability to make an impact at his position. He finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in the championship game, bringing a nice blend of physicality, footwork, and skill at his size.
But again, this is a team that has so many weapons and brings such balance, as they showed game after game that they can hurt you in so many ways. This year, this was a senior-led team and they were able to go out as back-to-back champions, marking history and putting their name down in program history. Now, the next questions will be…. Can this team make it a 3-peat?
