Player: Jay Nelson (Nelson Mboudjika)
Class: 2026
Height: 6’9
School: CATS Academy/ Expressions Elite

Offers: Rhode Island, Bryant

Game Description:

“I play the four and can play out of the post as well. I draw a lot of attention when I catch it in the post, so I try my best to read when I should score or pass it out. I can guard 1-5 on the court and I average double-digit rebounds all season long so far. Right now, I plan on developing more of my shooting ability and scoring out of the posts.”

Season Overview:

“Personally, I started a little slow but after a couple of games, I started having double digits in games and as a team, our chemistry got a lot better as the season went on. I began to be more confident, taking more shots and helping my team on the defensive end.”

Latest Recruiting News:

Nelson recently added a new offer from Rhode Island, giving him two on the board so far joining Bryant as his only other offer. Those programs have said that they like how much better he is getting, and how quickly his game has improved in certain areas. Right now, he has been able to dig into those two programs that have offered, but he does know that Rhode Island is a big school, that he likes how they are structured, and that they get really good players.

As far as other interests coming his way, Nelson mentioned that Providence, Xavier, and Boston College have also expressed interest his way.

“They like my high motor, my progression, my ability to make plays out of the post, and finish strong at the rim,” he said in regards to what those schools have liked about his game early on.

Though his recruitment has been picking up, Nelson did say that he had a dream school, as Arizona would be on that list.

“Back home, I used to watch a lot of their games because they had a guy from my country that got drafted last year, and since then I just have loved that school.”
