We are a month into the season, and it is time to start looking at teams around the state that have started off the season in style. One team that we were high on once again this year was New Hanover, as they started off the season strong, sitting undefeated early on.

The Wildcats are coming off an impressive 26-3 record last season, making a deep run into the state playoffs before falling to Holly Springs.  But they are back and clicking once again; so could this be the year for New Hanover to take home a title'

They certainly have the firepower and balanced attack that could help them, and what makes them even more intriguing… they could return most of that same power next year!

2025 Rodmik Allen has led the balanced attack so far this year, continuing to be a play-making guard not only scoring but finding teammates and being a defensive presence. It has allowed him to average 13.7ppg, 5.7apg, and 2.8spg. But 2025 6’6 CJ Kornegay and 2025 6’5 Nolan Billings are right behind him, bringing length, size, and athleticism to the table for this team. Kornegay can be a versatile piece on the court, both scoring and being active in a variety of other ways. Billings has been nearly a double-double type player in scoring and attacking the boards, averaging 7.3 boards per game. 2025 Zeus Batts is another dynamic guard who put on a show and brought a balanced attack to the court, averaging 8.5 points per game. He and Allen were a strong duo throughout the summer and have only continued that attack this season.

2024 Parker Crittenden, the 6’3 prospect that can knock down shots and be a threat, opening the floor for his teammates but also being a threat from outside. You can also add 2027 6’1 Jazir Wright-McGhee to this story, as the freshman has been able to help produce early on and get some early experience that he should only build upon in the coming years.

This team is battle-tested, very experienced, hungry, and dangerous, as the Wildcats should be a team earning a lot of attention this year as they have high hopes of bringing home a title this season.
