Player: Quasim Oden
Class: 2024
School: Grace Christian

We continue to highlight players around the region who should be garnering looks from programs, especially a few unsigned seniors that we know can help a future program. One player that we have watched countless times over the last few months has been 2024 Quasim Oden for Grace Christian. Whether it was at the Hoop State Fall League or for Grace Christian this high school season, Oden has proven himself time after time that he can be a playmaker and be someone a college program could use.

When you talk about Oden’s game, one thing that quickly stands out about his game is how physical he is with the ball in his hands. He is willing and strong enough to get downhill and attack, scoring at the rim consistently and embracing contact in the paint.  Oden excels out in the open floor and attacking the defense, especially out in transition but also does a great job in creating off the bounce and setting up open teammates for shots.  Oden is willing to do the dirty work on the court and is a proven leader, qualities that should only help and carry him at the next level.

Right now, he is an unsigned senior putting up strong numbers and performances, helping lead his team.  Which is why we are here to say that he is a scholarship-worthy player that college coaches need to look at more.

What Has Been Said:

“In reality, it feels like Oden is one of the more overlooked prospects among college coaches. He’s smart, heady, and incredibly tough. Oden clearly knows how to set the tone as a rugged defender with the necessary quickness, physicality, and sheer instincts to cause constant problems for opponents. He displays a high motor and quality feel for the game on both ends of the floor. Oden is excellent at getting downhill in the open floor, but also has no issue breaking down opponents and touching the paint at a high volume in half-court situations. He’s a useful shooting threat with craftiness as a finisher and playmaker. Oden is the type of player who stands out as a difference-maker in basically every type of setting or context. He should certainly be a priority amongst scholarship-level programs.”

“He was back in action once again this weekend with Grace Christian at the Phenom Summer Showcase, where he continued to shine with his play.  Oden is a tough point guard that understands how to make plays on the floor. Whether it is running the show and leading the offense for his team, or stepping up more as a scorer, Oden can really impact the court in various ways.  Countless times, we have watched Oden find ways to get into the paint, create with the dribble, finish through contact, or find ways to get his teammates involved.  And he is relentless with his attack, playing with a ton of energy and with something to prove.”
