The season is officially underway for all teams here in North Carolina, as Phenom Hoops got the opportunity to watch one of the premier seniors here in NC with 2024 Paul McNeil who is committed to NC State.  Richmond, who is a team that is looking to make yet another run at a title, tipped off their season in a big way at the Hoops & Dreams Showcase, and McNeil didn’t disappoint.

McNeil is coming off a season in which he averaged 24ppg, 8.7rpg, and 4.2apg last year for Richmond, and we should only expect him to come out swinging to kick off the season… that is what he did in impressive fashion.

McNeil started off the season with a 37-point performance, while also racking up 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, and 5 blocks to help his team earn a tough victory against Fayetteville Academy. And he backed that up with a strong showing again against Millbrook, posting 19 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

There is no doubt about it, McNeil backed his ranking and proved why he is a Top-100 player in the country, scoring inside and out, knocking down shots with range, being effective out in transition, and scoring in the paint or at the rim, while also being extremely effective on the boards and making defensive plays. McNeil will for sure be in the discussion once again to be Gatorade POY here in North Carolina, and he put on an absolute show down in Fayetteville to start his senior campaign.

What Was Said at the Event:

“Paul McNeil makes the game look effortless. Has a tremendous skillset and feel for the game. Knock down shooter from the perimeter. Will have another chance to win Gatorade POY! NC State is getting a good one.  #PhenomHoops #HoopDreams910”

“After an incredible showing yesterday, 6’6 ’24 Paul McNeil (Richmond) is putting on another noteworthy performance. Hitting jumpers and reliably dictating the offense, but also standing out through his presence as a defender and rebounder. Leading the charge here #HoopDreams910”
