Phenom Hoops went out last week to check out Victory Christian, as they have made it clear that they are a team to be reckoned with due to an impressive start to the season.  After their strong win against Christ School, the Kings was quickly on our radar, and we had to make a trip out there when they took on Providence Day.

When watching this team, this team impressed us with their overall impact and team mentality. This is a grind-it-out type team that plays hard defensively, moves well and swarms, has players that can control the paint without fouling and has guards that bring a balanced attack between quickness, athleticism, and size. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with their defense, making every pass and play difficult for opponents to get an open shot, getting into the passing lanes, and just bringing a swarming presence.

Offensively, they play hard and can get out in transition, but they also play well in the halfcourt, being able to attack and finish down in the paint and having the guards that can create to make plays. Clearly, this is a team with a different mindset and they share the ball well.

Players like 2025 Kabba Fanta, 2025 Myles Smith, 2026 Justyn Whitfield, 2024 Xavier Perry, 2024 Alius Bowser, and others can step up, bringing a solid presence on offense and defense. They have already racked up early wins against Word of God, Christ School, and Providence Day, and they have a loaded schedule down the road. But this is a team that is ready and can make a lot of noise this year.
